Hello I just had a couple questions about replacing parts of my PC. First if it's recommended to switch in new parts while I still keep some old parts in as well. And also if transporting my current motherboard into a new case, damages it in any way. I'm more curious as to the physical aspect of this process not so much the compatibility of the parts, I didn't want to start buying parts until I know if I have to start from scratch or if i'm able to upgrade my PC one part at a time, Thanks!

As long as you haven't bought a Dell/HP or other OEM build PC which sometimes use non-standard motherboards and connectors, it should be relatively straightforward to move to a new case and upgrade some components.

Is your motherboard a standard ATX, mATX or mITX factor? Has it got a standard PSU connector? If so, there should be no issue migrating your current build to a new case.

With that confirmed, you need to look at what components you want to upgrade. Post your current specs and budget and we can make some suggestions.

You should make sure that your new components are compatible with your old motherboard and other components. As for transporting, if you replace the motherboard carefully on a surface that doesnt cause any static, then you should be fine. Make sure the case is not too small for some parts such as GPU. If you transporting your parts further, use a antistatic bag to prevent static.
