My laptop does not boot usb 3.0 drives.
I have a vaio T series laptop 13in.
At strartup, when I press F11 with the drive attatched to the laptop, the laptop does not read the drive at all. However, if I use a micro b cable to connect the drive to the laptop, it boots as it should. I have made sure I have enabled the external boot option in the bios too. I have also tried different hard disks, and different cables as well. Thanks in advance!

Hello... USB3 is a software/driver required mode... USB2 is native to the hardware chips. Sometimes you can dl a DOS driver if you want to write a DOS batch file for it... intel has one for their chips I believe. But typically the driver provided for MB's/laptops will be for Windows mode operation only. B ) nothing is broke B D

Does that mean I can't boot from my USB 3.0 drive with the USB 3.0 cable?
Because I am pretty sure I could have before I installed windows 10...
