Basically I'm on the 4th floor and need to get through and reach the laundry room. I picked up a nighthawk ac1900 router. the 5ghz got a few feet out side my room and instantly dropped. The 2.4 nearly reached the room but cut off before reached it. What is the best router to reach there. I would like to get 100mbps if possible.

Btw I have everything through a switch except my phone

There will not be any router that is a lot better than what you have. The problem is not the router it is that the material in your house are absorbing the signals. The nighthawk is actually a very good router. Like most better routers it is transmitting at the legal maximum so you can not get more power. Then again your phone likely is not transmitting at as high a power. Still there is no fix to either of those.

If you have a ethernet connection in the room buy a second router and us it as a AP in that room. Otherwise you can use powerline networks to act as a ethernet cable between the 2 rooms and put a AP in or buy a powerline unit that has a AP built into it.
