Bootable DVD not working

Background: I recently upgraded my system from an FX 6350 to an i7 6700k, and therefor changed motherboards in the act. I foolishly forgot this meant a clean install of windows, and now I'm left with a PC that will crash whenever I try to load windows.

Issue: Since I have an SSD, I thought it would be possible to get a fresh install of windows on it. I'm at a loss! I try to boot in both UEFI and Legacy with the CD Drive and neither works. Each time I get the "Windows is Loading Files" screen, then the windows logo, at which point it crashes. I can't imagine that there's anything wrong with the CD, as it's literally impossible to change its contents and they were working last time I checked (can someone let me know what the contents of a boot dvd/usb are supposed to look like?). And this is with my hard drive completely disconnected, so there's no chance of it booting a windows 7 with the wrong drivers... What am I missing?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Hi PeppermintFangs :)

More than likely its because your drive (the hssd) is not connected. Try that first. You should be able to set priority in Bios to boot from your installation media. If you have configured to boot from the DVD drive or USB it will load into memory temp files (unless there is an issue with memory).? It should then provide options to install, repair, format etc.
Couple of possibilities, the DVD drive has a hardware fault or installation media is corrupt or there is something wrong with your RAM. Do you have another system to test them with.?

You can test your RAM with memtest86+ from a USB stick in your system.
