Hello Tomshardware,

I have had an issue with my desktop computer for several months now, I got a pretty decent computer with new specs yet it completely freezes 2-3 times an hour when I play games. I can not do anything other than rebooting the computer, sometimes it freezes the sound, sometimes it gives me a blue screen and sometimes it doesn't. It never shuts itself off. This is a screenshot of the bluescreen that I get. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/256314204133392384/256673855781863424/20161209_033521.jpg.

I have spent almost all my savings trying to fix this problem, and literally replaced every single hardware but the motherboard, these are my current specs.

SSD - 500gb Samsung 750 EVO 600g SCSI
GPU - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070
CPU - Intel Core i7-6700K 4Ghz
Motherboard - Gigabyte H170M-D3H LGA 1151
RAM - 2x 8gb DDR4 Kingston
PSU - Cougar CX 650M

I have replaced my RAM, CPU, GPU, PSU and SSD.
I have reset the whole computer to factory settings, wiping old hard drives and reinstalling windows 10.
Bought new SSD where I reinstalled clean install of Windows 10.
Rolled back new SSD to Windows 7.
Have tried 750W and 650W PSUs.
Got power surge protector, thought for a while that it could have been dirty power waves from my wall socket.
I have monitored Heat, which all seem to be fine.
Monitored memory leaks since the game I play have had issues with memory leaks, yet the game is not going over 3 000 000 k memory usage.
Done 24 hour benchmark, where it did not crash. Believe it was called Haven Benchmark.
I turned my desktop in to the local computer shop, where they had a look and said they could not find any issues with the computer.

This is my Event viewer errors:

I am literally loosing faith now, I have no idea what to do anymore, I have spent so much money, energy and time trying to solve this and just can't deal with this anymore. I am desperate for help.

Thanks for taking your time! Please let me know if you need any more information.

Hello, Im sorry your having these issues trust me I've been where you are. One suggestion... have you updated the BIOS for your motherboard? It appears there is a new update just released on 2016/11/23.

Thanks for the quick reply. I am omw to work atm, will check that when I get home, will also replace my psy cables with new ones, perhaps it could be a faulty cable?

If the freezing still occurs I will check the cmos battery.

Any other suggestions?

Alright so today I did the following.

Updated to latest bios update F20.
Installed new motherboard battery.

Still freezes after a few minutes of gameplay.

I will look in to getting the file for you, working a lot this weekend though so will post as soon as I can!

Appreciate the help.

@Paul NZ, so just to make something clear. Once the computer freezes I have to turn the computer off by using the power switch on the case. I first thought kernel 41 was just a hard power switch, but others have said that its not.

run intel processor diagnostics tool
run intel update utility
install the acpi driver from the homepage of the motherboard
run furmark stress test for about 10min. How hot is the gpu then?

all power connectors plugged in? 24pin ATX main connector, ATX12V 8pin connector in motherboard, PCIe connectors into the video card

Please run 3dmark (it´s for free) firestrike and after it benched your pc click on compare results online. Post the LINK which comes up.

all spacers are installed in the correct places inside the case, so the motherboard is correctly mounted inside?

Are the CPU socket Pins of the motherboard bend?

Thanks for the help helpstar!

I have ran furmark, and i left my computer at my local store a few weeks ago running stresstests overnight without any issues. Both cpu and gpu are running on normal temperatures.

I do believe the mobo could be an issue, will be buying a new motherboard tomorrow most likely and see how I go. As I said Ive replaced everything else in the case and used different drivers and both w7 and w10.

U might be on to something with cpu pins being bent or malfunctioning. I did have issues with cpu fan once and had to remove cpu several times, hence the pins may very well be broken. Now r u talking about pins that connect to the fan or the actual pins that link the mbd and cpu together?
