My PC Specs: processor: Intel i5 6600. Motherboard: Asrock fatality b150 gaming k4. Video card: Msi Gtx 1060. 1tb western digital black. 16 gb ddr4 ram. seasonic m620 watts.

Not for gaming, I don't edit video etc.

I want my computer top be faster. should I upgrade to i7 6700 or buy a 500gb ssd?

Solution
Sir U Dont Use this System For Gaming Or Video Editing . So What Do U Do With This?!
How Every Ur System Is Top Right Now But For More Speed Because U Dont Work Sth Like Heavy Processing Jobs So I Suggest U Dont Buy Anything
If U Insist On Buying So I Suggest U Go For 500Gb SSd
Best Regards Khd

Get SSD only, as it is the main bottleneck in your system. BTW, all other components are way too powerful for a system which is being used as a typical office machine.

You could easily use Core i3 with 8GB RAM and several orders of magnitude slower GPU; if you throw an SSD in the mix , it would be faster for most tasks than your current rig, as the SSD makes a huge difference.

why the heck do you have such a rig when you dont game or vid edit on it?
you do know it could run several AAA games on absolute max settings at 1080p?

doesnt really make sense to me. however, none of my business...

get an SSD, trow your operative system and whatever you use on to it.
use the HDD for storage. that would be the most intelligent thing to do.
