Here is my rig: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883256744

Changes made were new 600w Corsair Bronze PSU, replaced stock hdd with 2 3tb toshiba internal hdds, replaced gpu with r9 380x, and put in an extra 8gb ram stick.

Now, I went on this site a couple months ago seeking the best mobo I could get with an i5 6600 for my rig. I bought the new mobo, an Asus H170 Pro/CSM, 16gb ddr4 ram, and am going to get the i5 6600 after christmas sales.

However, for my current rig, the motherboard is roughly 1 to 2 inches to tall for my case. My PSU leaves no room on either side of itself, and the current mobo ends just short of the PSU, but the new one will simply not fit.

So, should I return the board, and try to find another compatible board that is maybe a bit smaller, or should I plunk down the extra 70-100 for a new case that will fit the mobo better?

And if I need to get a new tower, which is seeming likely, what boards could you reccomend? I dont need something super fancy or anything, and would like to spend 75 or less hopefully.

thats an atx size motherboard, im guessing your case is a micro atx. id buy a new midtower case, theres lots out there that are nice for 70-100. i just did a build in a zalman r1 and it was a great case. if its was corsair or another more mainstream brand they would probly be double the price. the zalman z9 neo looks pretty good too
