BIOS update and audio stopped working

So here are the details surrounding my issue

-Currently installed audio drivers
1)Realtek HD audio for on-board audio devices on my M5A99FX PRO R2 Motherboard
2) nividia HD audio for the HDMI audio out on my gtx 1060

Prior to the issue :
- had to update my BIOS to get my 1060 to boot on POST ,
- on board audio was working perfectly fine before the BIOS update
- !!!!! !!There is a resistor or some other 2 pin semiconductor component that fell off my Mobo next to the 3.5 mm audio I/O near the mounting screw during install but everything was working fine without that resistor/ semiconductor prior to the BIOS update and everything was working fine for the last 4.5 years like that since I had the Mobo . !!!!!

The problem:
- After the BIOS update my onboard audio no longer sends out a signal , but the output is detected and shows up in the device manager and audio manager.
(AUDIO over the GTX1060s HDMI works but my screen speakers are crap, wanna use my desktop speaker system much better quality .)
- the audio device manager keeps saying that a audio device is repeatedly being plugged in and unplugged rapidly . But no audio plays when it thinks something is plugged in for 3 seconds .

What ive tried :
- disabling the nivida hd audio and using the onboard realtek hd audio
- vice versa of the above
- updating all drivers and the above two points
- reformatting the drive and reinstalling Windows , update all drivers again .
- different speakers and cables .
Unplugging the front audio panel from the Mobo .

Nothing I've tried seems to fix the issue .

Again before the bios update everything worked fine , after the update my audio went wonky as detailed above . I ruled out the broken off resistor cause everything worked before like that for years. unless is there some change the bios could have done that now needs that resistor there and now it's causing issues ?

I thought about getting a cheap audio card for 60$ (CAN) but then again I'm figure I should replace the Mobo.

Any help , insight or advice to fix this or to figure out what the cause is, is greatly appreciated. Thanks

So reset the bios settings to default values then check to see that the audio device selected in the bios is the onboard device ?

That missing resistor wouldn't have anything to do with the issue ?

Is it possible that the bios update has told the audio chipset to "detour " the circuit path of the signal and now that component is needed ?

Logically it should still work since it worked before When I get home from work I'll try out the bios settings and see what happens , I also didn't try uninstalling the nivida audio drivers or using a dvi cable instead of HDMI . So I'll try those two before I assume it's a dying Mobo or buy a sound card .

its a resistor next to the audio 3.5mm I/O block , slightly right of and above the top middle row mounting screw
