Hello all,

My laptop only has 2 usb ports so to extend those I bought a cheap usb hub from a local store. At first it worked perfectly fine but when I moved it slightly all the connected devices would get into an endless loop of disconnecting, reconnecting, disconnecting, etc.
So I bought a more expensive hub but the problem keeps coming back, a small touch and sometimes fully random everything connected to the hub starts reconnecting...

I connected the hub to my dad's computer and nothing happened, it was fully stable and didn't disconnect no matter what.

My dads computer has windows 7 and my laptop has windows 10, so I think that might be the problem.

The ports in my laptop aren't to wide, I read on some forum that after a time the ports get wider and wont connect good but I tried connecting some devices to the laptop without using the hub and that worked perfectly fine.

This is really annoying and I really need this to be solved, any help is welcome!

Greetings,
Felix

Solution
Then it is your PC. There is not enough power to maintain a good connection to a USB hub. USB hubs derive 100% of their power from the PSU and/or battery of the computer, so your computer is not powerful enough to use a USB hub on.
It sounds like your laptop has a loose connection at the USB port. Since the chances of an operating system having any bearing on this issue is very small, you should open up your laptop and check the connection to that USB port.

What does your device manager say about Universal Serial Bus devices? Are there any issues at all in your device manager?
