My 7200rpm drive failed it started making clicking noise but after few days during diagonistic of that drive I shaked it and it started working again can anyone explain why this happened the drive was just 3 years old.It suddenly failed and after a shake it started again.WHY?

Hey there.

If you haven't backed up you data yet, I'd strongly suggest that you go ahead and do it as soon as possible. Did the drive complete the diagnostic test? What were the results?
I'd recommend that you re-test it again with its manufacturer's diagnostic tool and post some screenshots here. If it turns out that the drive is fine, perhaps it might have been a dislodged or another connection issue.

Hope that helps. Please let me know how it goes.

Thank you for quick reply.First of all I didn't had any data on that drive as the pc was just sitting there and the diagonisting included just checking that the motor was spinning. As it was not detected and didn't had any os on it so I will just install os or use live cd.Then will post the results. This is also strange as in bios the the drive is of hitachi whereas on label it clearly says toshiba can you explain.why?

Thanks everyone for answers and yes the drive failed when I was trying to install windows on it.Now it won't make any noise and won't start up.This has happened before but it automatically started working.I guess that it is time to sell the pc for anything I can get.

suprisingly my drive started again and cleared stress test without any problem.I had extra sata cable I swaped it and it started again.Don't know how but it did.So anyone with similar swap sata cable and it may work.
