What is ideal for with a 1070

I am going to build a computer with a gtx 1070 and was wondering the ideal processor to pair it with. I don't want a bad CPU with my really good GPU.

What would be your budget? An i7 6700 or 6700k if you want to overclock would be ideal. But a cheaper i5 6600k or non k will perfom just as good as the i7 in a lot games, an i7 can help with peak fps so if you have a high refresh rate 144hz monitor or something an i7 might be helpful in getting you the highest fps possible. Kaby lake is also coming out very soon, and amd zen is also around the corner.

1st you need to tell us how much is your budget for CPU and mobo and RAM, after that we can give you best choices.
Ideal CPU for GTX 1070 would be i7 6700 if you dont want to OC or if you want to spend a bit more for extra performance even on stock settings than i7 6700k.

Faster CPUs allow for higher framerates. Faster GPUs allow for higher graphical details at those framerates.

If you have a 60hz monitor, a stock i5 will provide you a perfect 60fps in nearly every game, with a handful of exceptions. An i7 or i7-K is more appropriate if you have a 120 or 144hz monitor, or want to record gameplay.
