Hi i was thinking about upgrade the processer in my optiplex 760 Mini tower i wanted to try out the lga 771 to lga 775 xeon 5492

does anyone know if the x5492 would work on this machine

You have to get an adapter and mod the socket.
You will also need to verify that it is compatible with your MOBO

This may require a BIOS mod.

secondly, verify that your PSU can handle it.

It can probably do it. In my experience, the Dell PSU do a good job.

Worth a shot if you ask me. Not a whole lot of money for the possibility of big performance gains. Just make sure you are not doing this on your primary computer, I can definetly see the possibility of something not going as planned.

Hi thank you for the the fast reply Autocrat i have a 300 watt powersupply in my machine and the x5492 comes pre lga 775 modded and i wanted to try this on the my primary gaming machine.with a gtx 1050 ti already inside.
