Why is it that 60fps videos on 60hz monitor look smoother than 60fps videos on 144hz monitor?

Hi! I just found a really weird thing. 60fps videos on 144hz monitor look very choppy, stuttering and laggy but when I change my refresh rate to 60hz they look smooth and I don't experience any stutter at all. Why is that?

1) Use 120hz on the desktop. Most games allow you to set the hz in game. If not, 24hz isn't a huge loss. That or you can change the hz when you need to. I bet you could make an easy script to do it at the click of a button.

2) The reason 144hz causes stutter with 60 FPS videos, is because videos use their own form of V-sync, and since 60 does not divide evenly into 144hz, some frames will last longer than others. As has been mentioned above, 24hz does divide evenly into 144hz, which will work better than 60hz. 24hz is standard for movies.

I really don't understand because shouldn't it produce screen tearing then?

But I would still need to change it everytime I play because I like to play at 144fps.

ITs as normal as the way a 24fps movie looks at 60hz.

My brother also has a 144hz monitor without G-Sync and he doesn't experience the same thing at all.
