a guy said this worked for him

http://ccm.net/faq/6210-how-to-fix-an-nvlddmkm-sys-error-message

before you start any of this may fun sfc/scannow

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929833

something may of got out of whack when you installed sp1 . how you went so long with out it or if you installed a old copy of 7 before sp1 was included on the disk ?? may need to keep checking for windows updates to be sure nothing is missing of pending that may still be needed .

also try another driver or 2 to see if something maybe wrong with the one you got or just some...
don't see why not ? only thing that would make it not compatible if for some reason your motherboards bios don't have support for the latest new cards ?? that's slim, but could happen ? then that maybe as easy as just updating to the latest bios that may add that support if its not working with the one you got ???

are you having some kinda issue ???

My motherboard is a b85m-g , and my PSU have 420 , what happens is the following think , without service pack 1 I play without problems but i cant open majority of the programs then when I install the service pack 1 i got a error "display controller stopped kernel mode driver xxx-xx"

may need to uninstall the driver and reinstall it ? may need to reconfigure the driver install for sp1 ? I assume your using windows 7 .

sp1 may of added something just try a fresh driver install and see being it was working fine up till sp1 was added

get your driver from here

http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

I would start with a custom install and uncheck all but the driver and only install it and test the go back and physx if needed

[all I install is the driver ] don't need any of the gimmickware , but that's your call on what you want

never use device manager for NVidia it do driver work its not supported [page 22 of release notes]

Black screen again and the same error , I used "WhoCrashes" to see what is the problem , I search some fix but not successed

On Sat 10-12-2016 09:57:22 your computer crashed
crash dump file: C:\Windows\Minidump\121016-12417-01.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: nvlddmkm.sys (nvlddmkm+0x39DED6)
Bugcheck code: 0x1000007E (0xFFFFFFFFC0000094, 0xFFFFF8800F7E1ED6, 0xFFFFF880035D2418, 0xFFFFF880035D1C70)
Error: SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M
Bug check description: This indicates that a system thread generated an exception which the error handler did not catch.
This appears to be a typical software driver bug and is not likely to be caused by a hardware problem.
A third party driver was identified as the probable root cause of this system error. It is suggested you look for an update for the following driver: nvlddmkm.sys .
Google query: nvlddmkm.sys SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M
