Hi Guys,

I have a problem where my PC just shuts down when it's been under some load IE gaming or heavy tasks it would just turn off and won't switch back on unless I switch off the power or unplug the power lead for about 5 - 10 minutes or so.

I have replaced the motherboard with a gaming board running default settings, re done the CPU thermal paste, checked temperatures and they are all absolutely fine. I have sorted out the cables to make sure nothing is shorting and even tried running with the CD defies unplugged but still having the same issue!!

Does anyone know why this is happening ?

Is my PSU smaller than what I need? (I did try replacing the PSU with the exact same one but still had the same issue)

Specs:
AMD 9590 FX CPU @ 4.7 Ghz
16GB of Ballistix Sports Ram
850 Watt Corsair Power supply (modular)
Gigabyte Gaming 990fx motherboard
120GB SSD
2 x 1TB Seagate Hard drives

Please help me ! I'm running out of solutions

ASUS has thermal sensors on the board. Check the thermals of the VRM, and follow that. Your CPU might be fine, but those VRM are handling 220 Watts of power.

If it was the VRM's overheating, then how would i cool them down?

My power supply is only bronze rated, i was thinking of maybe trying a 1000 Watt corsair fully modular gold rated power supply?

The reason i was going for a higher wattage PSU is because i heard that the CX series of the Corsair power supplies have a bad capacitor rating (I have the CX850M)

I was going to replace my PSU for the Corsair RM1000x 1000W Fully Modular ATX 80 PLUS Gold Power Supply as i have tried replacing my current power supply with another CX850M but i still had the same issue.

I have also reset the BIOS settings and i do not have any overclocks applied everything is default as it should be.

The CPU clock is 4.7 GHZ out of the box i am currently running a Memtest to see if it is the ram but so far no errors
