Hi guys, I am planning to build a new PC in a couple of months, and with new components coming out from both AMD and Intel, I would like to know,
1. Whether I should simply go for skylake/Broadwell-E or wait for kabylake/Zen
2. 1080 or wait for Vega 10/1080ti. I am leaning a bit closer towards Vega 10 considering asynchronous compute being software based with the pascal chipsets. Thanks a ton in advance

i would wait if your going ot use the pc for high end wait for the e skylake/kurby lake on the new 2066 pin mb. also look at the newer m2 samsung 960 evo for speed.

If it is in the coming months, then I would wait for Kabylake. You are likely to get a modest boost (5-10%) over Skylake. Why buy the last gen chip when you can get the latest. Given the amount of $$$ you are going to be dropping on this, it makes the most sense to get the most modern hardware.

Seeing as how the high-tier Zen states to have the performance of an 8-core i7 6900k for less than half the price, I would recommend to wait for AMD, as they always deliver.
In 2011, when the FX-8 cores were made, they were the king of budget PC's. Obviously now that technology is 5 years old and outdated, but for $150 you would not have gotten a better Intel processor. Maybe just a slow dual-core i3 that didn't even have hyperthreading.
AMD also seems to be really confident with their recent products. Like with the RX 480, they said it, and delivered.
Intel's Kaby lake seems to be just a minimal improvement from Skylake, which would translate to a pretty much unnoticeable difference in performance.
Vega 10 is also supposed to be a beast (16 TFLOPS of performance, which not even the Titan X Pascal has). Again, these are all leaks so you can't base it really off of that.
I would wait for Zen to come out, and if you get more price:performance, I would go for it, and if not, go for Skylake or Kaby lake.
