I have an older Compaq (HP) SR5237CL desktop which came with Vista but I updated it to Windows 10. My problem is that I cannot update the video driver. I used to have 1680 X 1050 screen resolution but now the only choices I have are 1600 X 1200, 1400 X 1050, or 1280 X 1024. My monitor says it is running at 1680 X 1050 but with the software running at a different resolution the picture is blurry.
I even went to the HP site and tried to install the driver but whether I try the 32 or 64 bit drivers, the installation fails and says, "Your system does not meet the minimum requirements for this update. Update has been cancelled (99998).
Windows shows that the current driver is Microsoft Basic Display Adapter. My CPU is a AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+. HWINFO 64 shows the gpu as a Nvidia nForce 6150 SE (6100-430). I tried using the driver installation from Nvidia but it showed that my system was not updated. When I first updated to Windows 10, All the drivers were OK. I decided to do a clean install of Windows 10 because I want to donate this computer to our local orphanage. Now the drivers can't be updated. Please help me figure this out.
