Hi!

I recently built my first PC not too long ago and now need a little upgrade on storage because I'm running low on the SSD and was hoping you guys could give me some tips and or ideas on what to do and what would be the best way to set this up. **I'll post my full system specs at end.

I currently have a Sandisk Ultra II 480GB 2.5" SSD which I have my OS (Win 10) and all my apps, programs, games etc installed on. I also have a Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive, I keep my documents, files, pics, install files, etc on.

I play a lot of games and do a lot of video editing in Premiere and use Photoshop.... so gaming and digital media apps I use a lot.

I just purchased a Samsung 850 EVO 1TB SATA III SSD. I was going to take the 480GB out and install Windows and all my apps back on to the new SSD. I would rather reinstall everything than transfer. So my main question is what do I do with the first SSD, the 480GB drive? Any ideas on the best way to go about using that drive, and how to set it up with my new SSD and HDD?

THANK YOU ALL!!!

You can only use the redundant drive as secondary storage, unless you have some other idea. You can also set up a raid formation, but having a ssd and hdd in raid is not a good idea as it will only perform at the speed of the slower drive.

Hmm... would I be able to install the OS and programs on the new 850 SSD, use the 480GB SSD to hold more apps and games, and keep the HDD for docs, files etc.?

What that work? I was thinking about it... but then I wasn't sure if the apps installed on the 480 SSD would work correctly because the OS will be installed on the other SSD.

Do you know anything about "Scratch disks". I use Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Illustrator, and Photoshop a lot.

I'm not exactly sure what it is for but it is supposed to speed up/optimize those apps. Is that something I can do... make the 480GB a pure scratch disk?

Or do you think it's not really worth it, I'm not sure what type of performance bump it is supposed to give.

Thanks!

Ok, are you saying if I install OS and apps on the 1TB ssd I can also install apps on the 480GB ssd as well and it will be just fine?

Sorry guys if it sounds like I'm not getting it... I'm just new to this. This is my first build and I've never had a PC with more than one storage disk. Really appreciate all your help.
