I know there are lots of threads about this with older generation cards, but should I get two gtx 1050 ti cards and put them in sli or should I get one gtx 1070.

I see. Get the single fastest GPU money can buy for 600AUD. I was thinking in USD. Anyway, keep in mind that SLI never scales 1 to 1, so two of the same graphics card doesn't yield 2x the performance. It's more like 1.5x in one game, 0.8x in another, and maybe 0x when it overheats in the summer.

If 600AUD can get you a GTX1080, totally. GTX1070, totally. At that point, I wonder what else you have in your system, and if that's worth upgrading as well.

My mate has built himself another rig and said I could have his. I think the CPU in it is a Intel core i7 6800k. I am pretty sure it has 16gb of the fastest ram available in DDR3. I don't know anything other than that.

As already stated, the lowest end (current generation) GPU that supports SLI is the GTX 1070. In order to help you pick the right card, would you mind finding out the full and accurate specs? i7-6800K cannot have DDR3 memory. Also the i7-6800K just came out and is most like your friend's CPU. In addition to the full specs, also please find out the manufacturer and model number of the power supply. If you open up the case, you'll see the mfr & model # on it's side. So your budget is 600 AUD. Which site do you play to purchase it from? Your game in 1080p resolution? Could you name two or three games that you plan to play, to get an idea of the graphic demands.

I am planning on playing games such as GTA V, Skyrim V, Euro Truck Simulator 2 and NBA 2k17. I also play all of these games with a 3 monitor setup.
