curious, i have one SSD that i use to clone my OS drive to every week (i wipe it 3X first). But i do it using a hot swap double bay external unit on my computer. After a clone, i pull it from the bay with a sata cable connected to one that isn't, that way it stays powered but i'm confident no virus etc is going to invade or infect it
I hadn't realized i could change a drive's status to "offline". Does placing it offline 100% prevent anything, virus / malware wise from infecting it?
