So my girlfriend started having some issues with her computer recently. First the cpu fan was making a lot of noise, then the pc started to shut off on it's own. She realized that the CPU was running really hot, and removed the heat sink and saw that the thermopaste was burned off. She replaced the thermopaste and it seemed that the cpu was running better, but the pc is still shutting off on it's own.

Me and my girlfriend regularly skype call with video on our phones, but whenever her pc shuts off on it's own, our skype call dies as well.

When my girlfriend had purposly shut off her computer, her usb ports were still functional.

Has anyone encountered this before? Is there anything we can do?

um pretty wierd, and also if u noticed the thermal paste was burned, you may want to replace the cpu , tell her to plug a speaker to the computer and turn it own without ram , or 1 stick of ram at a time and listen for beeps, maybe be a burned cpu and skype call cutting off has nothing to do with the computer issue

I find it hard that it's just a coincidence that our skype call shut off three times in a row when her computer shut it self off.

is her modem and powersupply wire connected to the same outlet? my guess is that a wrong voltage deliverance is interrferring with the outlet connected to the internet and shutting it off, am no tech specialist but its pretty obvioius the computer is broken
