Good day!
Last night, I was turning off my computer and somebody here accidentally unplugged it. The next day, when i tried to turn on my computer, it only shows a black screen couldn't get into safe mode. Are the files still safe? we need to do a lot of schoolwork since it's hell week. Also, there's no HDD activity but the fans are on.

Cheers!
Ren

update: i left it on and it showed a screen that says windows failed to start. a recent hardware or software change might be the cause.

it has a status:, 0xc000000e and it said the boot connection failed because a required device is inaccessible.

is it possible to enter safe mode after this screen?

from another pc make windows 10 boot usb stick. when the installer starts boot into repair tools on it. try a system restore to an early date. if windows errors out with same hardware failure then try and bare bones the pc. power off pull the gpu and one ram stick see if it boot with bare hardware. if you can boot from the usb stick before you reinstall windows use another usb to move your school work off the old drive.

Hmm... Seems to be what happened to my machine when my uncle gave it too me. I would try to load a new hard drive with an operating system on it and see if it boots. Worst comes the worst you will have to do what i did and rebuild or buy a new computer. Do you have any information about the incident or when you tried to boot. ie: clicks, pops, beeps, buzzes, ect. as far as safe mode goes try it I would not think it would damage anything farther than it has been.

If you unplugged it, it may have damaged the Boot Manager. If that's the case, you wouldn't be able to boot into Windows like you are now.

Your two options are to either run Startup Repair to repair the damaged components, or if that doesn't work, re-install the OS which will replace the Boot Manager entirely.

Once you're up and running I'd recommend that you start backing up your machine regularly. I recommend either a disk imager (i.e. Macrium Reflect) or a snapshot tool (i.e. RollBack Rx)
