AMD fx 6350 to 8350 a good upgrade

like the titles states. i currently have a amd fx 6350 at 3.9GHz accompanied by a gtx 960 2gb gddr5. i was wondering would the switch to a 8350 give performance boost? or should i upgrade the gpu? if so to what. my budget is roughly £160

current specs:
amd fx 6350 3.9ghz hex core
gigabyte 78lmt usb3 mobo
gtx 960 2gb gddr5
8gb 1600mhz kingston ram
1tb hdd
kolink 500 80+ psu
corsair spec 03 case
cooler master hyper 103 cooler

the 8350 will include the wraith cooler

No not really, considered it myself for awhile. The performance increase you would get going from a 6350 to an 8350 would not be worth the price in the majority of games. And upgrading from a 960 to any card costing around 160 pounds would not be worth it either in my opinion. If I were you I would save up for either a switch to intel or you could wait and see what amd zen offers. Or just save for a new gpu, nothing short of a rx 480 or gtx 1060 would be a worthwhile upgrade over a 960 as far as im concerned. The 6350 will bottleneck a 1060 or 480 to some degree in some games but it should still provide a good performance increase over your 960.

^ Agree with this opinion.

Many new games are utilizing more cores, but they're still effectively bottlenecked by an FX's poor single-threaded performance. An FX-8350 would be a very minor improvement in most cases, and none in others. Save up for an i5 or wait to see what Zen brings to the table.
