Hi,

I'm building a new PC in about a month or so, but I was wondering what PSU I need for this build.

Specs:
I7-6700k
MSI R9 390 8gb... Already bought so can't change that to an 480
MSI Z170a SLI PLUS
16gb DDR4 RAM

I want to eventually overclock my cpu and my gpu

if you are going to overclock your cpu, aside from a strong PSU you will need a very good cpu cooling system like a H110i for example.
I did a quick part picker with h110i (as example you can change it) and the system looks like it OEM not OC will run at most 525w
this will be a bigger draw once your over clock your system.... so.. yeah 800w-100w of good quality is what I would do.

Actually I already bought the R9 390 last year so thats the only component that I already have, otherwise I would've bought the 480 of course.

Their no need to buy a expensive water cooler for those chips they about hit the OC wall before you need that a much lower priced air cooler is all you need.
The H7 ( Hyper 212 depending on what you can buy) will give you a good overclock or get the H5 (dark rock 3) if your going for a more aggressive overclock.

For the power supply any of these would be good choices. You should be looking at the RX 480 and you could get the 550 Watt model of the PSU.
