Just a few days ago I built my new gaming PC. The first two days it worked perfectly fine. Today I started noticing that after 2-3 hours, my PC randomly shuts off. I know it can't be my CPU because the temps were at about 28 C. I was doing schoolwork. I'm thinking it is my PSU because after I shut off my computer it makes a short weird kind of like a grinding noise. My PC has shut off 3 times today.

My specs are:
i7 6700k 4.00 GHz
16 gb ram
MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X
MSI z170a Gaming M5
EVGA Supernova 650w g2

Solution
Can you test with another psu? Maybe from a friend or local shop.
Can you test with the gtx 1070 out, work of the integrated gpu,and see if it shuts of then? Since you say ramdomly it doesn't only do this when gaming?
Is the cpu cooler well placed? Maybe reseat it with fresh paste. If not having that first buy a tube,it's not that expensive.
