I am trying to portforward a Minecraft server to play with some friends, but when I try to do that it wont work and it tells me my WAN IP address is not the same as external IP Address.

I am using an ASUS RT-AC68U router.

If you need me to provide more information just tell me, I really need help here

Solution

When you connect directly, open "Command Prompt", execute "ipconfig /all", and post results here. And talk to your ISP for information what service do you get at the end of that cable.
I wager you are double-NATing, meaning this is what I think you have:

(WAN IP) ISP modem/Gateway (subnet 1)------> (External IP as seen by you) ASUS (subnet 2)----->

A couple of options:

Put your mine craft server on subnet 1 and configure port forward on ISP modem/gateway.

If unable to do the above, you must Port forward on BOTH the ISP modem/gateway AND the ASUS.

Not exactly sure what you mean, I'm not really a proffesional in this subject. Anyway I tried port forwarding both but it wouldn't allow me to, can't use the same port (25565) for both of them. And how am I supposed to put it on subnet 1?

Doesn't matter, WAN IP is a local IP anyway when it's supposed not to be.

WAN IP: 192.168.1.2
External IP (By IPchicken and whatsmyip) 94.137.xx.xx
Gateway: 192.168.3.1
DNS Servers: 192.168.3.1

On the router's website for WAN
DNS: 192.168.1.1
Gateway: 192.168.1.1

The gateway (192.168.1.1) only brings me to the modems website, and I have no idea why my DNS is same as my gateway on both of them.

That looks like double NAT.

Who's your internet provider? What router/modem have they supplied you?

Ownit, and they supplied me an Inteno FG500 fiber/modem. My WAN cable is connected from the router to the modem too.

Looking at the specs it seems the Inteno is also an ONT. Log onto the web interface and see if there's any options for modem mode or bridge mode etc.

I think your best bet would be to call your ISP however. Ask them if it's possible to allow another device to handle the routing in your home.

Also, how is the modem and your asus connected at the moment? From one of the LAN ports to the WAN port of the Asus?
