Is it Worth it?

Hey guys,

Is it worth changing motherboard, ram ect for a sky lake cpu to replace a i5-4690k fot gaming purposes?

That is a pretty tough question since we don't know what you have now and how well it performs. My best suggestion is to look at your existing CPU, memory, and graphics card and compare them to your purposed new hardware. Then you can take action within the constraints of your budget. Another thing to consider is how quickly computer hardware depreciates. You could conceivably spend a fortune on new hardware and then get little in return selling the old stuff. You see, over there in pollution city, they are cranking out motherboards, CPU's and memory chips by the millions to keep the money flow going. That is primarily why all our existing hardware has little resale value. Just something to think about.

In my opinion, I would say it's not worth it to upgrade at this point. I'd probably wait until the family of processors that comes after Kaby Lake (or maybe the next one if a new CPU socket is introduced).

Not worth it. Still a very capable CPU.

If you're feeling like you're struggling to do things while gaming (such as streaming), look into a Haswell i7.
