Hello,

Last month I purchased a PFSense firewall from Kirby's Network Supply in Macon, Ga. It was a birthday present to my daughter as my son said the Wii we got her needs it. I brought it home and my kid said it was working. I get home from a business trip today and see that it is still in the box I bought it in!! I'm beyond frustrated with this kids, but I digress...

I decided to set it up myself, by plugging one end into my modem and the other into my laptop, but it does not boot. No lights, no nothing. There are step-by-step instructions that I'm following to a tee. Upon further investigation, I was able to boot it by unplugging the modem and plugging THAT into my laptop.

I do a little ipconfig and put the numbers in a browser to continue setup. 192.168.10.1 but it acts as if the internet is not connect. I called Time Warner and they told me my internet is fine. Despite me insisting that it isn't!

I called up Kirby's this morning, but they are closed till Tuesday.

Can anyone give me a step-by-step to setting this thing up? Fortunately, we have our phones for now. But the wife needs to access a work VPN in the morning.

The instructions have TelNET instructions for Kirby's support. If we can even just get that running, I'd be happy tonight.

Thank you!

You have purchased an enterprise class firewall appliance that is not simple to configure based on your kids saying you need it to play on a Wii? I would think again, if you do not know what you are doing you will struggle here. It doesn't offer you anything in this regard that a consumer router doesn't. Even setting up your wifes VPN will not be simple on Pf.
Could you outline why they thought they needed this?
