Currently I have a GA-Z170X-Gaming 7 with Samsung 850 EVO SSD in the SATA port 0 and a mechanical 3TB drive in SATA port 1. I recently bought an Intel SSD 600p Series (512GB, M.2 2280 80mm NVMe PCIe 3.0 x4, 3D1, TLC), but I didn't check if it was compatible with the motherboard when I bought it.

The compatible M.2 list on Gigabyte's website for this board hasn't been updated since March 2016 and the Intel SSD came out after that.

Also (assuming it works) is there any settings that need to be changed in the BIOS (other than pointing to the M.2 as the boot drive) that I should be aware of?

Just to add, I didn't initially try installing it. As I wanted to get feedback because it wasn't on the list of supported M.2 drives for Gigabyte. I was also worried because some other boards have some issues where you need to change BIOS settings.

I can safely say that it works perfectly with no change to BIOS settings required!

I just got one for the gigabyte x97x ud5h and its not seen in bios or crystal mark. I am currently using it as an OS and games drive. But....only getting 655mb read speeds. The write speeds are on par though which is weird. Maybe im missing a setting in the bios. On latest F10 bios. Forgot to say im on windows 7 with the hotfix
