PC with 6700k & 32GB of RAM Not Running Games Smoothly

Hi,

A week ago I built myself a PC for my recording studio; although it doesn't have a dedicated GPU, it is supposedly very powerful, which proved to be true as it handles huge studio projects with great ease (audio processing mainly consume CPU power and uses as many cores as possible).

However, when I tried playing Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and Far Cry 4, there was a lot of lagging even with the lowest graphics setting, which basically made the games unplayable. Note that these two games did NOT lag like this when I played them with my cheap laptop, which had only an 2.4 Ghz i5-4210U CPU and 8GB of DDR3 RAM. I tried playing Counter Strike Global Offensive and everything was extremely smooth.

I have all the drivers up to date and there was minimal programs running in the background when I played those two games. I have tried the lowest graphic settings with no success.

So I'm quite sure it has to do with how my computer is set up. What am I missing? Is it really that my computer is not powerful enough to handle these games? Please help! Thanks in advance!

Here's my build:

I agree with previous poster - you need to install a gaming card.

The Intel HD GPU on the APU just can't cut it.

Your laptop probably has a discrete Nvidia or AMD GPU which would explain why it can run games better than your desktop PC.

It takes more than a good CPU & enough RAM to run modern games. The GPU seems to have slipped your mind entirely, and that's equally important if not more so.

My laptop's resolution is 720p (the new one is 1080P) and it does not have a GPU; it only uses the Intel Graphics. GPU didn't slip my mind: I was thinking that since my old laptop could handle big games like Crysis and Deus Ex on the lowest graphic settings, so would this much better one. =/ I still don't get why it will lag! Does pagefile size have anything to do with this? It is 4.8GB right now. Also, I installed the games on an HDD. I have a 500GB m.2 SSD tho, should I install my games on it? I heard that games can't run faster than an 7200 HDD so that's why I didn't install them on the SSD.

What resolution are you at now though?

Thanks for the info! How do I know if a GPU is good for 1080p? Which one of the specs should I be looking at?

I was referring to the specs you gave for your recent build - - you didn't mention what GPU it has in your first post, hence why I said you seem to have forgotten how important it is for good games performance.

This thread has gotten way longer than it needs to have.
What you want for your new build is a gaming GPU - - - why keep disputing it?

And marking one of my posts as "Best Solution" then continuing to post and ask questions is just plain daft.

Hey man, sorry if I have offended you in anyway. I marked your post as the best answer after I got all the replies and wrote the thank-you post. I then looked through all the posts and decided yours was the best (though the other ones are great as well).

I kept disputing it because, as something who doesn't know a lot about computers, I was confused why my laptop, which has way lower level specs with no dedicated GPU, could run those games while my PC cannot. But now I know it's probably because of the screen resolution.
