What's the best CPU?

Can you guys tell me what's the best budget CPU for $100?
Don't mind about future upgrades or anything like similar or socket types. I just want what's the best, THE BEST, for the price.Even if it's old or not a skylake socket, it's fine.
For reference, I'm hoping for something better than i3 6100 in performance.
Again, don't mind the generations of the CPU as long as it's good for gaming and video editing.

Well, not really anything to recommend better than the i3-6100 for less than the price of one. For $109, get an i3-6100.

If you got really lucky buying used components you might manage to find a decent quad core CPU for $100.

Better than an i3 6100 for 100 dollars? I doubt you will find that unless you get a good deal on something used, even the 6100 is about $120 not 100. An fx 6300 may do a bit better some very few specific games, but all the latest benchmarks I have seen show skylake i3s beating out similarly priced or more expensive amd fx processors by a long way. Here is bf1 as an example.

The only other CPUs I can think of that will be better than the i3-6100 are the Kaby Lake i3s and the hyperthreaded pentiums coming in 2017.

Used Ivy Brisge chips, for example i7 3770 are cheap- but you'd have to find a motherboard for it.

If you got really lucky on ebay, maybe. They run a lot higher generally, bottom is around $150 looks like. But you are right, picking up a motherboard would be a bit more difficult.

I think you have very optimistic, arguably unrealistic, expectations for what you're going to get with $100. Basically, unless you find a good deal on a used CPU (and manage to find a mobo for it), this probably isn't going to happen.
