How big of an upgrade is a GTX 970 4GB from my current RX 460 2GB Overclocked

I have a FX 8320E @ 3.4Ghz
8GB Crucial 1600 DDR3 Ram
500 2.5" HDD
550W PSU

Its on sale at my local Micro Center store for $179 Refurbished

At a price level of $179, might as well get a brand spanking new 3g 1060 or 4g 470. The 470 and 480 are very close in power.
Edit: To clarify the recommendations: the 1060 is around the 980 mark, the 3gb version of it is slightly less powerful, but still roughly the same mark around the 980. The 480 is close to the 970 in DX11, but closer to the 980 in DX12.

But if i get the 970, it has 2x pcie 6 pins.
Do I need to use both or just one? Because my current psu only has 1 6 pin pcie connectors
