Gday all,

I would love a little more knowledgable feedback on a build I'm looking at putting together for a 4K video editing system. Initially I wanted a $2000 (AUD) build, but when adding peripherals and a few other funkies, I'm OK with it getting to around $3000.

Can anyone provide some comments on what they think of this build; if everything is compatible and if the components match up well. If there are any obvious parts that could be cheaper (or better models for similar prices). I've never overclocked, and am not particularly looking at doing it for this system.

Would love your thoughts and big cheers in advance!
Rossy.

Thanks a million for the advice Hellfire13! I took a few notes, but I was building on computer alliance, for ease of parts and delivery as one (as I'm very regional) and delivery before I head away so my colleague can use it. I will post the final build in the coming days when I finalise the purchase. DAMMMMN exciting!

Gday all,

The final build for the computer is listed below. It took (for me anyway) quite a bit of catching up with the latest products, technologies and specs, esp for 4k editing. There was a lot to consider. Some of the big considerations were - overclocking, which 4k screen to choose (video/photo editing vs gaming screens) and then weighing up tradeoffs between price and punch. What I came up with is a system at $2000 AUD, minus peripherals (screen and keyboard). I chose to go with Computer Alliance in Brisbane for parts, and build the machine myself, partly as I'm regional and can't as easily return the entire machine. I'm more than happy with their service and advice. Big thanks to Hellfire13 also, I took a few items from his list that made more sense than ones I'd chosen.

The screen needed to be a 4k screen with IPS or AHVA technology, with a good colour gamut and decent refresh rate for video. I added the Icy Box for ease of card access. The use of a PCIe M.2 SSD was a great suggestion, something I overlooked and much faster with the PCIe connection direct to the motherboard (with a PCIe port).

I hope this helps anyone else in the same place I was a week ago.
