As the title says this is my first PC build and I am experiencing some problems. Just to note my motherboard which is a Asus Z170-A has a green light in between the "PWR_LED" and "TB HEADER"
"PWR_SW"
Nothing else is turning on including the fans. What's weird is I plugged in my GPU to see if it would register and it did but no picture or fans. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You mean the exact opposite, the LED is to indicate that the PWR is being fed to your board. The little button marked under PWR_SW is the power switch.

You may want to breadboard your system and see if the system powers up, if so, then you have a grounding issue in your chassis. Just for the sake of relevance, I'd ask you to inspect that all components are installed as they should and double check to see if there are any bent or broken pins in the CPU socket.

What do you mean by register? It may be worth your while if you could include your full system's specs.
