High FPS, but the smoothness of the game feels horrible.

Hello,

I recently upgraded my computer with an i7-4790k. I launched up Killing Floor 2, then set most of my settings to max (shadows and AO being the exception) Wanting to try out what my CPU can do, I started to play on some of the most busiest maps in the game, however, I noticed something was very, very off. Whenever I panned the camera around, the smoothness of the game would feel extremely sluggish, despite me running MSI Afterburner to monitor my FPS. My frames were fluctuating between 80-120, and again, it didn't feel fluid at all no matter what the FPS counter told me. This doesn't just occur in Killing Floor 2, this happens in every single game I play: Overwatch, Gigantic, Warhammer: End Times Vermintide, etc.. I've tried several times to adjust settings in the Nvidia Control Panel, Nvidia Inspector and this problem still persists. Yes, I have Vsync off in all of these games, and am using a 144hz monitor with a DVI-D cable (I ordered a Displayport cable two days ago hoping that'll fix the issue). At this point, I'm utterly lost, burned out, and desperately seek constructive answers.
Another thing, this problem never showed its ugly head when I had my old processor (i5 2400).

Specs: GPU: G2460 (1920x1080@144Hz)
2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 (PNY)

CPU: Intel Core i7 4790K @ 4.00GHz Haswell 22nm Technology

Motherboard: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. B85M-E (SOCKET 1150)

RAM: 8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 666MHz (9-9-9-24)

OS: Windows 10, 64 bit

Monitor: AOC G2460PQU 144hz, 1ms Ultimate Performance 24-Inch Professional Gaming Monitor.

Thank you!

So, I did a bit more research and have concluded that it's micro stuttering. Task Manager is saying that I have 1-15 MBs usable whenever I'm idling or playing a game. The strange thing is, I have 1470 MBs on standby, and I have no idea why that's happening, maybe damaged sticks? To add onto all of that, my HDD takes up 99% space, so I'm coming to the conclusion that I need to replace my ram and purchase an SSD.

Windows 10 makes memory unusable can be due to old driver causing memory leaks. I suggest using driver booster to find out which drivers need updating and update them all. Use the free version to guild you on what needs updated. Basically your micro stuttering is being caused by having to go to page file on your ssd for virtual memory.
