I recently OCed my i5-3570k to 4.4GHz to try to keep up with my new GTX 1070 but the performance is still poor in games like BF1 with the CPU maxing out completely. I'm trying to OC to 4.6GHz but when I boot up from BIOS CPU-Z reports that the CPU is still running at 4.4GHz despite being set at 4.6GHz. Perhaps it has something to do with the MSI Z77A-G41 mobo I have, apparently it's quite bad when it comes to OCing. I appreciate the help.

The difference between 4.4 and 4.6 will have no better results , leave it a 4.4 if it's stable that's a decent OC for that board and chip.

6600K is a great chip , running it right now.
If you're into the Video Editing scene i7 is worth it. Mainly gaming 6600K \ Z board \ 16GB DDR4.

Not most of the time but if you plan to edit video it's a plus , but the 6600k does just fine with it too.
