Hello everyone,

I'm looking to upgrade my computer and wanted some input.

I'm currently looking to play current games on max settings at 1440p at 144hz. (so 144 fps? g-synced)

A few of my concerns are that I don't really need to upgrade or the upgrades simply wont produce noticeable outcomes.

My current setup (Old copy+paste)

Now I have already upgraded my GPU in that setup above to a GTX 1080. (Things seem OK but I think there might be a slight bottleneck from the processor)

I also got a new monitor the ASUS ROG PG279Q.

Now my new setup I'm thinking about would be this:

So Ideally my Father needs a new PC and I would give him mine for around $400. Rather than buy him something brand new in that price range. I would keep the GTX 1080 for my build and put the GTX 670 back in for him.

Now what do you guys think? Will I notice an increase in performance? Should I wait for prices to come down or new stuff to come out?

Thanks!!

Solution
120GB is not enough. With the prices as low as they are you should go for a 480-512GB model.

DDR4-2800 in a 6700k build seems just a hair slow. You could easily get some really fast CAS14 3200Mhz RAM. I love my Team Dark Pro ram, which is quite inexpensive (being Team Group) but extremely fast, running CAS 14 @ 3200 all day.

144FPS at 1440p is tougher than you think, but a 6700k with a GTX 1080 will bring you as close as you can get with a single GPU solution.
