then the card is working well but the fan is not, ok

posibly a faulty connector or a faulty componenet feeding the fan on the gpu

if you can't apply any warranty on it, then the simplest solution to keep it alive and well is remove the fan and if it has a plastic piece holding the fan, i would remove it too if it doesn't keep the heatsink in place and put a 120 mm or 80mm fan near the card, powered by the mainboard or by a molex to 4 or 3 pin adapter and keep enjoying the card like this one

some cheap 80 mm fans will come with molex connector so no adapter required

Thankyou for replying
well i have the Thermaltake TR2 Series from BestBuy. and i end up changing my GPU because is it kept downclocking(maybe i bought a bad gpu) Now i have the Geforce 730 and since it only requires 300 watt, it seems to run very good. i was also able to overclock it about 20% and get some goof FPS in games. I thought it would bottleneck with the AMD cpu OC to 4.2ghz but not bad for such cheap small GPU :D

i have a a8 6600k with a gtx 750ti and a tr2 430, all is well, it can get a bit hot the psu but nothing major to report

that r7 240 is not half in power consumption when compared to the gtx 750ti

the video card doesn't require 300 wats, it is ideal to have 300 watts to cover gpu, cpu, ram, mainboard, hard disk, usb ports and all the rest

having 430 watts for a cpu that used around 100 watts and 50 for the gpu, well, that su is doing almost nothing

that card iirc uses maximum 50 watts

thanks for your info Atljsf it was really helpful actually. I thought the GPU itself needed the full watts lol. Christmas is right around the corner.. I might jus buy myself a new GPU:D. Happy Holiday mate!!:D

maximum of that card unver very heavy load should be 60 watts

i have a r7 250, it uses more than the cpu that eats 30watts! i have a 500w psu, imagine :D

maximum under the worst overclocking possible on that r7 240 it can't reach 75watts, the limit of the pci express slot, if it reaches it, well, you will see the pc restart suddenly, but you would need to reach 1gz in gpu and 1ghz in ram, crazy values, not possible with that card

wow! good stuff mate. Im curious..i also have the Amd r7 250 and it seems to have overheating issue. at first i thought it needed new thermal paste so i went on and changed it. it would still run around 35C(temp) at idle and as soon as the benchmark software starts (100% load) the gpu temp shoots through the ROOF like..(90C) and keeps rising until the gpu throttle down by itself(dropping core clock and memory clock) and this happens within 4 seconds after benchmark starts :/ . Then i went on and did a complete system wipe and reinstalled Windows 10, set the cpu bios to default....still gpu gave the same problem. couple days ago tho..i did the same thing again wipe hard drive and reinstall windows 10. the problem stopped but after i installed a new Power supply (thermaltake TR2 Series from BestBuy) the (amd r7 250 2gb) started having the issue again. i decided to change the gpu to (Nvidia 730 2gb) and it didnt have overheating issue at all. what do you think is causing this issue. As always..thankyou for your time :)

my r7 250 after adjusting fans, well, can idle at different temperatures, i'm still trying to set a value where fan doesn't spin at 35°c

that is a cold temperature, yesterday running at 720p the resident evil 7 demo i didn't saw that reached 50°c, kombustor made it reach 51°c

unigine heaven did 47 or 49°c iirc

i have a tr2 but with a gtx 750 ti, psu gets hot but under load, but none is doing any throtling, cpu wanted to do it but is a old bad case with very bad airflow so i don't blame the psu at all, it takes hot air from inside the case, it has to exhaust hot air too right?

the pain of old cases, thinking on upgrading to a corsair carbide 88r, two 120mm fans can do wonders bot in noise and in temperature

in that logic, what case do you have that r7 250? no overclocking? try msi afterburner and be sure to set a fan curve, be sure the fan is spinning!

those values are of a fan not working i think, or is a fanless model? i have a sapphire 2gbs ddr3 model but a corsair cx500 psu

if it is a fanless model, it could be poor airflow inside the case or that the psu has too much load and is starting to work funny and giving problems to the parts

is it that hot when touching the gpu heatsink? don't touch it with the pc powered on and connected to the electricity!

i have two computers with same spec. the AMD 4100 quad core with the Asus M5A78l-M LX PLUS with 4 Gm ram and of course the TR2 PSU with the littile engine that could (Nvidia GT 730 2gb)the only difference between these two computers is that, the one im having trouble with has the (AMD R7 250) with the Corsair Mid-Tower Gaming Case. Picture of case link---http://www.bestbuy.com/site/corsair-carbide-series-spec-02-red-led-mini-itx-microatx-atx-mid-tower-gaming-case-black/5591349.p?skuId=5591349

i actually tried to underclock the power limit, with my old 220 watts psu the r7 250 would give me a powerlimit up to 20% but with the new TR2 PSU now the powerlimit is 40%. Also same values for reducing the powerlimit(-40/+40). I used Msi afterburner. I downlocked core speed up to 500mhz which brings the core speed to 550 and memory at 1000mhz also brought the powerlimit to (-30%) The temp went down buy 7C... to be exact temp was at 90C. one thing i forgot to tell u is that, the r7250 fan never actually worked. i replaced it with new fans but the two Black and Red wire from the GPU that power the fans dont power up the fans at all. for the last 5 month i used the motherboard system fan as power source to power the gpu fan. the problems came after i reinstalled windows 10(couple of times) and installed new PSU. Again thankyou for your time my friend.

yes the heatsink gets really hot. it could easly burn my hands if i hold it for 3 seconds.

look at this wonder

if it looks dumb but it works, it is not dumb, ugly perhaps, but not dumb

if you haven't fried it yet, perhaps is a survivor, worth keeping it alive, not a expensive card but worth to try keeping working

thankyou mate, you gave me a great idea. i decided to use one of my huge aftermarket CPU heatsink for the GPU. it was a bit crazy because at first it couldn't even fit in the case. but finally made it work and the test result i got was AWESOME! now its running 30C at idle and 55C at max load. this time its running all clocks at stock.

My solution:) the problem was caused by a faulty heatsink. when i looked closer the heatsink metal had rust from the bottom where the screw bolts in. this caused the heatsink to be a bit loose, and the bottom metal of the heatsink was not touching the GPU core this caused core to have no metal contact with the heatsink because 1 of the 4 pins(rust broke the grib on the screws) that hold the heatsink with the gpu was loose causing to have unbalanced contact with core of the gpu. Its almost like it was running without heatsink. Thankyou so much mate!!!! you been really helpful:) oh i forgot one thing.. the reason my stock heatsink had rust is because, i was being a idiot and use to clean my heatsink with water. I know right:/ i feel soo stupid for doin that. but i guess u learn something new everyday LOL.
