PC Upgrade - GPU/CPU Upgrade?

First of all, here's my components:

i5-4690K
8GB HyperX Fury RAM
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo
ASUS Z97-P
Sapphire R9 280X Tri-X Vapor-X OC
1TB HDD Western Digital
Corsair VS550

I also only have one 1680x1050 monitor.

What would be the best upgrade for me? Should I upgrade to an i7? I stream occasionally, when I can, but not mandatory, which is why I'm thinking keep the i5.

The GPU feels like it might be the PC's weakest link.

I was considering the GTX 1070, until I saw the RX 480 and the GTX 1060, and I could also upgrade other components with the leftover money.

Would the RX 480 be better than the GTX 1060?

Last but not least, an SSD. Will it improve the speed of the PC THAT much?

I'm thinking, maybe upgrade my GPU to a GTX 1060 AND get a 144Hz, 1ms 1080p monitor?

I would upgrade the monitor first. Then perhaps look into an SSD or a better GPU.

Depends on uses and hardware. If you want to play AAA titles in ultra 1440p around 60 FPS you'll want something like a GTX 1070. If medium settings or lighter weight games or lower frame rates are in the equation a lesser GPU like a 1060 is fine. If you don't do much gaming at all the GPU doesn't matter a bit.

If you want to keep using your 280x for a while but still play AAA titles at decent settings for respectable framerates then 1080p is good. Or if you want to drive lighter weight games at max specs 60 FPS you can still use your 280x for 1080p.

If you play stuff like CS:GO you may want to consider a 1080p 144Hz monitor.

Yeah, I don't game too heavily, which is why I'm considering upgrading the monitor over the GPU. My main games are :The Witcher 3, CS:GO and H1Z1. My budget fits perfectly for upgrading to a GTX 1060 and upgrading to a 75hz 1080p monitor, which I'm really considering, as it means I can upgrade both, but would it be better to keep my 280x and go for a 144hz Monitor?

144Hz would give you a benefit in CS:GO and not much else. It depends how much CS:GO matters to you.
