Hello guys I have a kingpin 780ti and Im upgrading my monitor I wanted to know before I buy will my 780ti be ok with a ultra wide and how much fps roughly will I lose going to an ultra wide thanks

Solution
the 780ti wont have any problems with 2560x1080. 2560x1440 is 33% higher pixel count than 2560x1080; 2560x1080 is 33% higher pixel count than 1920x1080. you can roughly expect your fps performance drop to be the same 33% as the pixel count. for the most part my 780 classified handled 2560x1440 without issue and only a few games like crysis 3, gta5, witcher 3 did i need to turn down AA levels along with a couple key settings. so in my opinion your 780ti will do excellent at 2560 ultra wide.

if you are going to go with 3440x1440 then we are talking a whole different story, a whopping 79% more pixels than 2560 ultra wide. you would almost need a second 780ti in sli to give you similar performance at 3440 ultra wide than you would...

It would help to know what you are gaming on now and what resolution you are going to. But going on a guess that you are sitting at 1080P (1920x1080) and going to 2560x1080 than you wouldn't lose more than a few frames. Jumping to 2k (1440P) you wouldn't get more than 40fps on max settings.

as iamacow stated at 3440x1440 you'll lose more FPS then 2560x1080. If it were me I would go with the 3440x1440. If you have to you can drop to the lower resolution but the higher resolution will be more future proof in the long run. Not to mention will look a fair deal sharper. How long do you plan on keeping your 780Ti.

I upgrade to a GTX 1070 after my 780ti couldn't play BF4 over 40fps on max settings under 1440P. And my 780Ti was overclocked to 1350. You can't get much higher than that. The 780Ti will run 2k (1440P) on med settings, not much higher on these newer games.

I own both the asus rog348q and a acer z35 both are ultra wide. The acer is 1080p and the asus is 1440p and i will tell you right now i prefer gaming on the acer z35 1080p widescreen. Games nowadays almost always have resolution scales and you also have DSR so if you wanted a "sharper" image than what you would get with 1080p you can always adjust. Also 1080p widescreen is much easier to run graphically and is cheaper also. If i could go back and do it again i would have got 2 acer z35's instead of my pg348q and the acer z35.

IAMACOW i ran bf4 on 1 of my 780ti classifieds (sli off for testing) and i got around 70 fps at max settings on my asus pg348q ultrawide 1440p and i had my card clocked at 1300mhz. With sli on i held 100fps solid. Not sure why you were getting 40 fps. On my 1080p 144hz asus monitor with 1 780ti i get 120-144fps at max.

I own a 3440 x 1440 @ 60 Hz display. Personally, I wouldn't want to use anything less than a GTX 980 Ti or GTX 1070. A 780 Ti would hold you over, but I doubt that you'll be able to max out your graphics and maintain 60 FPS. I'm guessing that you could sell your 780 Ti for approximately $200 on Ebay and purchase a new GTX 1070 for $400 on NewEgg.
