Hey guys,

I just built my first gaming PC and finally upgraded from my old HP Pavilion p6210y.

http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01859864 (hp specs)

However, i still have my old HP up and running as a side computer for my brother to use. Currently it has a XFX R7-360P-2SF5 video card and a 700W PSU and runs games like CSGO but not Battlefield 3 & 4, it struggles to run those.

I was wondering if it is worth upgrading the processor and throwing an extra 2GB stick of RAM (would make it 8 total) in there so i can maybe run BF4.

What processor would you recommend for this motherboard? I'm confused in the specs it says it has a AMD Athlon II X4 620 with an AM3 socket. Then right below it says for processor upgrades to use AM2+ sockets?? Isn't that going backwards?

Or is the motherboard too old for a new processor to even help? I don't know much about motherboards so i don't know if the M2N78-LA (Violet) is worth anything. Would you say scrap everything but the card and psu?

Thanks!

Imho, getting some i3 with MB and RAM will be much better investment.
Like you can look for used CPU. i5 are selling for under 100$ so you can do the platform upgrade for 100-150$. that will be enough for couple of years on the CPU side.
