CSGO Server, Port Forwarding is being wierd

I've recently been trying to create a dedicated server on csgo which me and my friends can play on. I've set up the server and it works good for me on LAN atleast. But when my friends try to join they cant join. I tried port forwarding some ports ex. 27015, the private IP is 192.168.0.12. But when i check the port online it says its closed and its checking my External IP, but if i check the port with software it says its open but then its checking my Private IP. Any ideas on what the hell is going on???

Jonados :

The external IP address is the one your friends will use to connect. The software you are using can't check external access using the private address. The best way to check is to have a friend use the software to check with your external (public) IP.

Also, make sure the WAN (external) address of the router you are port forwarding matches the address you see on the online port checker.

Yes, i know they have to connect to the external IP and the online port checkers say the same external IP as the one i have. But it seems like i've port forwarded my Private IP but not my External (which is wierd).

When you check the server within your own LAN, the port will always be available (open) outside of any firewall issues, since data is not traversing from WAN to LAN.

Only external users need to be forwarded to the server. The port forwarding in your router has no effect on communication within your LAN.
