Hey guys, I am planning on upgrading my CPU/MoBo and currently have a AMD Athlon II X2 220 / 2.8 GHz. I'm wondering what performance gain in gaming I would get from upgrading to a Intel Core i3-4170 3.7GHz Dual-Core Processor and a Gigabyte GA-B85M-DS3H-A Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard. Thanks!

I bought a pre-built PC and am upgrading things as I get the money. Also, I'm doing so in layers. I want a PC that can run medium spec games first so I can play something while I'm saving for bigger purchases. So, right now I have everything stock besides the PSU, Ram, and an added GPU but I plan on upgrading these further in the future along with the CPU. I'm going to be using a Gigabyte GA-B85M-DS3H-A Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard. Do you think that the CPU for the price will be sufficient? I have about $150 for both but it is flexible.

There are newer Intel CPU's that perform better for almost same price, look into i3 6100 with B150 motherboard.

Can you tell me the specs of your current PC, so i can tell you if you can keep some parts and adjust the build accordingly. Do you arleady have an LGA1150 motherboard?

I've heard that option but I have DDR3 ram that I just bought. But I have a Asus Essentio CM1630 with Insignia 520W PSU, GT 730 1GB, 12GB DDR3.

A bit out of my price range but I'll see if I can make it work. Thanks.
