I have 8gb ram and task manager is saying im using 40% and going up to 50 even though I checked all the programs and ive only been using 300 mbs of ram since im currently doing nothing. Ive checked to see if all my ram is accounted for in system control panel and it's all there.

Solution
Windows will keep unused code in ram in anticipation of reuse.
That means nothing about actual use.

The more ram you have, and the longer you go without booting, the more will be "used"

The key metric for insufficient ram is the hard fault page rate in task manager.
It should be close to zero.

If you have superfetch enabled than windows will use ram and load programs that are commonly used. 99% sure you have it enabled because it is by default. But yes ever since Windows 8 the requirement to run the OS has been 4GB. Depending on what you do it can go from 1GB all the way to 4GB just using the OS.
