BF1 Crashes with new AMD drivers, says GPU is removed?

Rig:
FX 8350 4Ghz
MSI 970 Gaming
16gb RAM 800Mhz (pretty low I know, but they work just fine)
R9 380 4gb

After updating to the new AMD drivers, not only did I have problems with Fallout 4, but now BF1 is giving me this error message:

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-x8VOS2tWqIOE1NaFlsY3FxT1E

I tried reverting to an older driver using DDU to clean up whatever drivers I did have, and then installed 15.12 I think, but then for some reason I was unable to use my two monitors as one big screen? It said that no other displays were detected but it mirrored the image on both of them...

What AMD driver should I revert to? If that is even the fix -.-

Any help would be great, thanks in advance.

I can't see the error you posted as I'm blocked at work from the site where you posted the error but if its a 'DX_GPU_Removed' type of error then literally thousands of people have the same problem in BF1, both AMD but mainly Nvidia users. Look at the BF1 forums and you will see a thread with about 7.5k posts in it about this very problem.

Whether AMD, Nividia and Dice actually fix this is open to debate (personally I don't think they will), but in the meantime I'd suggest disabling anything you don't use in BIOS (LAN port, serial port, HD audio output if your on a USB set of headphones etc.) as one of the Dice developers found an issue with a conflict with a realtek audio driver on a system he used to recreate the problem.

I would...

Driver sweep and try the newest and work backwards from there.

My 1070 seemed to hate every driver release for almost 5 months then the last few have been fine.

Do you happen to know the last one that worked properly?

For the life of me I can't remember which one I had before I updated. It was only a few days ago, is there any possible way to see a driver history of some kind? It might have been somewhere in the 15.xx or early 16.xx

I know not all cases are the same but I found a post here where someone had the same error and fixed it by changing their TdrDelay value?

It is strange that you are getting the same issue with so many drivers though.. Usually it is 1-2 which were released really close together if there are any problems at all.

Try going backwards one by one.. uninstalling then sweeping then installing and hopefully you can find one that works.

Okay so after going down the list of past drivers I've reached a point where the driver doesn't even install. It begins the installation process with the status bar and ads of random games on screen, and then at 2% it says that install is done. It is not done and when I go to my Device Manager the only thing there is Microsoft Basic Display Adapter.

Same.first i thought it's raptr, plays.tv or someother bckgrnd prog, but i shutdown all background prog's and get max 30min of gameplay before crash. Same error message. i tried it with locked memory and unlocked memory. The only thing i haven't tried yet is uninstalling MSI Afterburner-and re-installing drivers, but AFtbrn is not running, so i don't see how that would help.( I did read somewhere that it's best to uninstall MSI afterburner before updating to 16.12.1 which I didn't do. Also cause I only read that after installing.) Anyways probably will try if the new ones don't come out soon. The drivers that i rolled back to were 16.11.5 which seemed to help (didn't test for long) so try those...if u already did and it didn't help, my previous drivers that worked great were 15.9.2 if my memory serves me right 90%sure(the other 10% = 15.11.2) too bad though cause the new cooling and energy saving features work wonders on the r9 380 (finally it doesn't sound like a hoover) so i'm not rolling back just gonna wait and play csgo+others till then-i haven't tried fallout 4 but it saddens me that u have a prob with that too, mainly cause i'll have those probs too....checked my download history...and it appears my memory is bad;) the versions i had downloaded were: "non-whql-64bit-radeon-software-crimson-16.5.3-win10-win8.1-win7-may21.exe" (june 2) but then i downloaded "radeon-crimson-16.3.2-with-dotnet45-win7-64bit.exe" (June 25th) so it seems that the latter is the winner for stable but hot and loud gameplay :( also...did u donload the dotnet version or the nondotweb...cause methinks that, that is the problem..i cant even download the nondotweb version..maybe for a reason?

I would use the latest AMD driver though as it has some useful new features and I've found it to be the most stable (for me at least) for my crossfire setup in BF1. Previous drivers suffered from the dreaded flickering textures in crossfire.

Xfire users are almost always going to need to use the newest drivers.

His card is a bit dated so something in the newest drivers could be causing him problems.

If he can find a driver release that works properly for him he should use that until something else that works comes along.
