Looking to replace the SSD I have in my system now, and I am between both of these options. I've read good things about both, I have heard the PRO is overkill, and I have heard the PRO is a noticeable winner. Bottom line: I'm using it for gaming, and if I can't really notice the difference with boot time's and gameplay, I'd rather have the extra space, and vice versa. Prices now are $120 for the PRO and $130 for the MX300 525GB. Open to all suggestions.

The 950 Pro is Read 550MB/s, Write 520MB/s, 100k/90k IOPS . The MX300 is Read 530MB/s, Write 510MB/s, 92k/83K IOPS. I have been saying this to anyone who will listen lol, Samsung SSD's are a rip-off, especially non-OEM models. Go for Crucial. That's my advice.

For gaming your not going to tell the difference I use a low priced PNY CS1311 for my gaming drive. 480GB it was on sale for 100 bucks when I bought it. For the price of the 2 drives your looking at the Crucial is the clear winner.

So this website is useless? http://ssd.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Samsung-850-Evo-500GB-vs-Crucial-MX300-525GB/3477vs3643

Edit: By useless, I mean grossly overstates the relative performance of the Samsung SSD.

In a sense yes. If you examine the actual stats, there isn't a lot of difference, and you won't notice any.

For me, either the MX300 or the Sand Disk Ultra II (not the SSD plus though). Both saturate the 550mb/s SATA III bandwidth and have around 100k IOPS. Any with those kind of figures would do though, and most have good warranties. Flash NAND memory doesnt make that much difference, but the uncool 480GB Toshiba Q300 is the best priced if you wanted it.
