I have paired GTX 1080 with i5 4670K @4.5Ghz.

Whether I play @720p, 1080p, 1440p FPS remains between 50-70 only.

Sometimes FPS frops below 50.

Is my i5 bottle necking the performance of GTX 1080?

kindly suggest.

you surely will see improvements with an i7 4790k on cpu heavy games
compared to your current cpu.
an i7 4790 without the "K" is fine aswell and will hold for a good while.
take an "K" only if you overclock it or else its a waste of money.

(for a comparison: im running an oc i7 4770k with an 1080 and have no problems at all.)

Im playing BF1 @1080p ultra settings. My FPS remains between 50-70. In high detail FPS drops in 30-40.

In GTAV @1080p 4x MSAA in Ultra Grass FPS usually drops in 40s.

GTX 1080 should be giving constant 60 or whatever frames, no?

Utilization of CPU goes upto 100% & temp. max 60c, GPU utilization varies from 40-80% & temp. max 70c.

I tried same card on my bro's i7 3770k. No fraps or stutters or drops on i7. Usually FPS remains above 60.

Yes on those games an i5 will bottleneck a gtx 1080, those games are cpu heavy and benefit from an i7. Other games it should work fine.

The i7 3770k is a stronger cpu than the i5 4670k and it has hyperthreading and that's what makes the difference here.
