Pci3 card (gtx-750) to PCIe (1) slot performance loss

I have a PCIe slot on my motherboard . It wears a gts-450 (PCIe2) now and was thinking of a gtx-750 upgrade which is a PCIe3. Is it worthy? How much performance loss should I expect fro such a downgrade? (from PCI3 card to PCI slot)

Thanks a lot!

Solution

on a low level card like a 750 the performance loss is irrelevant

you should be worried about the cpu on a pcie 1 slotted motherboard, that is what is going to rob performance

wow! what a fast response! Cant find words to thank you! But could you invent 5mins of your time to tell me something more upon that and redirect me to where to search about that topic?

Thanks a lot!

ps. If you mean just the power of my i3-2100 3.1Ghz then it is ok for me. I can do with newer and not newest games and of course upgrading my experience and FPS with the ones i already have like FSX. If you mean any compatibility issues or conflicts between my i3 and gtx750 or 1050 ,, then please explain more if you wish.

if you have an i3 2100 then you have a 1155 motherboard with a pcie 2.0 slot

on games like FSX cpu matters A LOT, you are going to need an i5 or better to make that run well

you need to find a balance between the cpu and gpu, a dual core is not going to cut it on games like that

I see. And of course upgrading CPU while keeping my humble gts-450 wont do the trick either , right?

Thank you very much for your time!

correct, balance

for you though a gpu upgrade first would help quite a bit, the 450 really is garbage

=)

that i3 + a 1050 would be decent ( the 750 is obsolete )

Hey bro, dont insult my GPU like that please, you hurt my feelings haha! Ok I am joking I know it is. But back in 2011 was really a good choice ,for me and people of my budget. Probably the best we could afford. I had this system (without the screen or other peripherals) for 600Euros!

my i3+Gtx1050 is exactly the one I was aiming for eventually! . And I wont have to upgrade my Motherboard either this way. And I could upgrade to a strong i-5 a year from now maybe. I also have 8gb from Ram. I had upgraded from 4, 4 years ago, only to realise it was COMPLETELY useless for fsx! Being on my 30s, I was still carrying the 90s notion of "More Ram, better gaming". Just money on trash :p

yes, fps

also if you really have a motherboard with a pcie 1.x slot then the cpu would be too slow to handle it as well
