Bent CPU Socket Pins, fixed into place, am I safe?

Hello everyone,

I recently built a PC, and after it not posting I noticed very quickly that there were some bent pins in the CPU socket of the motherboard. I'm 50/50 on whether it was something I did or if it slipped through quality control at ASUS. Either way, it was voided warranty and of course, it's always the users fault.

So I either had the option of paying £40 to send it to ASUS and have it looked at with no guarantee of a fix or attempt to repair the pins myself. I thought well if my repair doesn't go well, I can always still send it back anyway.

I went ahead with the repair, and voilá we had a post. The concern I have is will this affect my CPU potentially in the long term as I will be pushing my rig to the limit? I've seen a few stress tests and things like that which I will perform when I'm home from work. I really just want some reassurance that if it does pass these tests my CPU won't just die on me somewhere down the line?

Thanks for your help in advance.

I've ran the tests and it was very successful, but it did crash maybe once or twice over a two day period of testing. It may have been completely unrelated, but I thought I'd ask anyway. Is there any chance my CPU may be damaged long term using this motherboard which may or may not be working at 100%?

I'm hoping in a month or so to just replace the motherboard, but considering I just bought it all brand new, I'm a bit low on funds, and I'm kinda hoping I can make it last for this period.

Do you think this is feasible?
