I have a refurbished HP ENVY 700-056 - A series A10-6700 3.7 GHz - 12 GB - 2 TB and I want to play games like Star Citizen and I also want to get a HTC Vive and play Onward and a bunch of other VR games. So I was thinking of getting a GTX1060 or should I start saving for a new custom vr ready gaming pc? Thank's for helping!

Solution
My opinion is just start to save for a new (and veery costly) system.

The 1060 is not powerfull enought for VR (forget what the press said, i've a 6600k/1080 and it's on the fringe of playable) and Star Citizen dont demand a lot less than a VR (at 3440x1440 the 1080 is again in the limit).

Currently you are just aimming for almost the best.

Definitely consider making yourself a new dedicated VR gaming PC because the HP CPU definitely will not be able to get you any good performance in VR.
For VR you should look into getting instead of the GTX 1060 a RX 480 because that GPU is made around getting good performance for VR and also the RX 480 gets driver updates for a few years and the GTX 1060 doesn't.

GTX 1060 would be fine but your processor isn't strong enough for VR (HTC Vive) as the minimum spec on that is the FX-8350 (at least for AMD processors).
Unfortunately you won't be able to upgrade to a processor that would meet that spec as you have FM2 socket and the best processor for that PC is the A10-6800K (per HP) and that isn't much better than what you already have.

If you want to VR you will need to get a new board and CPU and possibly a PSU as well depending on what is in there. I recommend you build your own PC and pick the parts that will do what you want. Lots of help here if you decide to go that way. There are good pre-built systems out there but you will pay a premium to have someone else build it for you.

Interesting. You meet the minimum specs for HTC Vive (assuming you meant i5-6600K). Good to know that this isn't really strong enough to run the VR like you wanted to.

I got a sweet deal on a Zotac GTX 980ti AMP! Omega which is similar in performance to a 1070 and paired it with an i7-6700K. Now I just need to save up for a good VR and see how it runs it.

It's nor tbe Vive, it's a Oculus Rift DK2... paired with a i5-6600k oced at 4.5Ghz and a Gtx 1080 slightly oced also.
The problem is seems i have is that i need reeeeeally smooth fps witout almost any lag to avoid motion sickness...
